The members of SEIU Local 580 have voted. Approximately 300 members came out to vote on Monday, November 17th, 2008, in a very close election for Union officers. The results are Phil Keefe of DCYF for President over incumbent Lucie Burdick, Karen Bachus of DCYF for 1st Vice President over newcomer Peter Gesualdi, and Ernie Watson of DCYF over former membership secretary, Kathy McElroy. The vote totals were very close--no one won by more than 30 votes. Jack Kearney ran unopposed and will continue to serve as Treasurer. Anna Gendron, Membership Secretary, and Joan Scheureman, C.O.P.E. Secretary, also ran unopposed. The newly elected officers will take the oath and begin their two-year terms in January 2009

The counts were as follows: President: Phil Keefe (164) v. Lucie Burdick (137)

1ST Vice President: Karen Bachus (153) v. Peter Gesualdi (148)

2ND Vice President: Ernie Watson (150) v. Kathy McElroy (139)

Executive Board elections will take place approximately 30-days from today.
